Tradition in the service of excellence

Tradition in the service of excellence

TIMELAB is a private foundation mandated by the State of Geneva to meet the high-quality certification needs in watchmaking.

Founded in 2008, TIMELAB is the heir to a long watchmaking tradition. The Foundation took over the responsibilities of the Geneva Watchmaking School, which has been in charge of the Poinçon de Genève certification since 1886. It houses the Geneva Chronometric Observatory, with a history spanning over two centuries, succeeding the watch laboratory that served as the Official COSC Bureau in Geneva from 1973 to 2013.

Governed by the law I 1.25 of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, TIMELAB's mission is to operate the Geneva Chronometric Observatory, the Poinçon de Genève, as well as the watch and microtechnology laboratory.
TIMELAB is managed by a 7-member foundation council appointed by the State Council of Geneva.

Serving as a bridge between the academic and industrial worlds, TIMELAB contributes to the advancement of professional training, applied research, and development in watchmaking and microtechnology by collaborating with technical schools, watchmaking higher education institutions, and universities.

TIMELAB is accredited by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS), a guarantee of the quality of its activities and its commitment to progress. These accreditations contribute to maintaining and perpetuating the level of excellence of Swiss watches.

ISO/IEC 17065 (SCESp 0119)

As an accredited body for product certification, the Foundation can issue certificates for finished products, i.e. movements or complete watches.

ISO/IEC 17025 (STS 0598)

The Foundation's laboratory is accredited as a testing laboratory. The standard regulates the conduct of testing and guarantees the accuracy of the results obtained.

TIMELAB guarantees independence, neutrality, excellence and credibility in all its activities.
