TIMELAB Foundation houses the Poinçon de Genève and the Geneva Chronometry Observatory

TIMELAB Foundation contributes to the promotion, development, and international recognition of Swiss watchmaking by testing, measuring, controlling, and certifying Swiss and Geneva timepieces.

A Tradition of Excellence

TIMELAB is a private foundation entrusted by the Republic and Canton of Geneva to operate the Poinçon de Genève and ensure the control and certification of chronometers through the Geneva Chronometry Observatory. It is also mandated to contribute to the progress of applied research and professional training through its watchmaking and microtechnology laboratory.
Inheriting a long watchmaking tradition, TIMELAB and its sworn experts work with impartiality, neutrality, and confidentiality.

High Performance

In addition to issuing renowned certifications (Poinçon de Genève, OC+, ISO 3159), TIMELAB supports watch manufactures in their pursuit of excellence, performance, and value at all stages of watch development.
Its cutting-edge laboratory fulfills all testing requirements during homologation, provides solutions to production issues, and ensures quality control according to the strictest standards.
TIMELAB holds international accreditations attesting to the highest level of its services.

Putting People at the Heart of the Mechanism

Creating an innovative watch or improving the performance of a timepiece requires the synergy of numerous skills.
Therefore, in addition to its sophisticated instruments, TIMELAB also provides brands with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, specialized technicians, and technical collaborators.
These experts offer valuable support as well as personalized, practical, and tailored solutions.

A HISTORY OF TIME

TIMELAB is part of the rich tradition of Swiss chronometric certification, which began in 1772 with the establishment of the Geneva Astronomical Observatory and the launch of major chronometry competitions throughout the 19th century.

TIMELAB encompasses three distinct activities, all revolving around the measurement of time and its components.

Geneva Chronometry Observatory

The purpose of the Geneva Chronometry Observatory is to measure the accuracy and reliability of timepieces. It issues "certified chronometer" certificates according to ISO 3159 standard and the OC+ label.

Poinçon de Genève

As a true standard of excellence and an emblem of Geneva's fine watchmaking since 1886, the Poinçon de Genève guarantees origin, craftsmanship, and reliability. TIMELAB is the sole custodian of this label. www.poincondegeneve.com

Watchmaking and Microtechnology Laboratory

The laboratory houses the necessary infrastructure and protocols to test all the constraints endured throughout the lifecycle of a timepiece. Its experts support and advise watch brands, providing them with exceptional customer service.
